What does That's Rights! do?

That's Rights! for rights buyers: organises and tracks acquisition considerations, and manages the decision-making process within your organisation; tracks negotiations with the proprietor, stores contracts & licensing terms, tracks & follows-up with materials and production requirements and obligations of both parties.

Produces business reports for company meetings or trade fairs, produces royalty statements for your licensors.

That's Rights! for rights sellers: maintains a database of your customers & prospects, drives submissions follow-up, and provides tools to negotiate license terms and agreements. That's Rights! also provides sophisticated co-edition management tools, including pricing and forecasting. 

Produces business reports for company meetings or trade fairs, calculates royalties due on licensing activities and produces royalty statements for your authors or contributors.

That's Rights! comes with built-in, pre-defined profiles of languages (over 450), countries (all of them) and standard rights territories, and all international currencies.

I already have my own database. Can I use it with That's Rights!?

If you have a database that you want to transfer into That's Rights!, you can easily import the basics (companies & contacts, titles, licenses) using That's Rights' built-in import commands; alternatively, we can convert your data for you - whether your data is in electronic format, on paper or just a shoebox full of business cards, we can get it converted. Please contact us at describing your data and we will quote you a price for the conversion.

If you want to use That's Rights! simultaneously alongside another system, you can keep your databases up-to-date by using That's Rights' import and export features. Does That's Rights! generate royalty statements?

Yes.

If you are a rights buyer, That's Rights! generates royalty statements for your licensors.

If you sell rights, That's Rights! generates royalty statements for your authors. That's Rights! keeps track of your licensing activities, and calculates royalties due to your authors, illustrators and other contributors. You can define complex rules for authors' and contributors' remuneration (fixed fees, escalating percentages, with or without withholdings, etc.).

I have my own royalty system. Can I use it in conjunction with That's Rights?

Yes.

Use That's Rights! to calculate royalties on licensing activities, then export the results as a spreadsheet, for use with your existing royalty application(s).

Yes.

That's Rights! automatically calculates royalties due on rights activities. You can then add your own sales figures, and That's Rights! will calculate the royalties due on that as well. That's Rights! will then produce a complete royalty statement for your authors or contributors.

Does That's Rights! include accounting features?

That's Rights! does not include formal accounting functions. However That's Rights! provides extensive facilities for logging financial data involved in rights and co-editions management - including prices, license fees, advances, royalty receipts, printing and shipping costs, etc. - and all of this in multiple currencies. That's Rights! can output this information on paper or export it in electronic format for use by your accounting department.

Is there a limit to the number of titles or companies I can have on a That's Rights! application? 

No.

You can set up as many of your titles or properties as you like in That's Rights! In fact there are no limits on any type of information that you use with That's Rights! - titles, authors, publishers, agents, contracts, co-editions, submissions, etc. - all unlimited.

There are some features in That's Rights! that our company will not use (but we love the rest). Can we have some features switched off?

The royalty management features may be switched on and off. If you're not using That's Rights! to record and manage your royalties (but just to manage marketing, considerations, and contracts) you can set the option to suppress display of royalty-related information.

What kind of computer do I need for That's Rights!?

That's Rights! will run on any personal computer (desktop or laptop PC) that operates under the Microsoft Windows® operating system (Microsoft Windows® 95 or later; see system requirements for details).

That's Rights! is not available on Macintosh at this time - sorry!

Can I install it myself?

Yes.

Just download the software or insert the CD, and within minutes That's Rights! will be fully operational on your desktop. No specialized computer skills are necessary to install or operate That's Rights!

No.

Designed with a standard windows interface, That's Rights! is intuitive and easy to use. If you use a PC for word processing, email or other basic activities, you won't have any difficulties working with That's Rights! And with comprehensive online help, you're never more than a click away from an answer.

My 30-day free trial period has expired and I was too busy to evaluate the software - what do I do?

Uninstall the software and install the trial copy again. You now have another 30 days.

(Any data you may have entered during the 1st 30-day period will be erased. If you want to keep your entries, you will have to purchase the software.)

To uninstall the software, go to the Control Panel (from your PC's Start menu, select Settings, the Control Panel). Run Add/Remove Programs, select That's Rights!, then follow the instructions to remove the software.

Yes.

Use the same CD (or copy the downloaded file) and install it on each computer where you want to evaluate That's Rights!

Your requirements may already be in our planned updates - or if they fit with our overall product direction we'll be glad to consider adding them - in which case you would receive them free of charge. Are there additional annual fees?

No.

Once you've purchased a license for That's Rights!, it's yours to use, indefinitely. There are no renewal fees, no maintenance fees or other extra costs. Updates to the version you purchase are provided for free.

If we release a major new version, you can upgrade for an upgrade fee, or you can stay with your current version - the choice is yours.

We issue periodic updates to the software which you receive for free (by downloading or on CD, whichever you prefer). Updates contain minor improvements as well as any corrections to errors in the software.
